A New Chapter of Color, Connection, and Community

From the same studio where abstract art and vibrant textiles come to life, I'm thrilled to introduce my newest passion project: Lily Pad Mahjong Parlor

This colorful new space—located right inside my Chicago gallery—is dedicated to the joyful, analog experience of learning and playing American Mahjong. It's a place where strangers become friends over tiles and tea, where Southern hospitality meets Midwestern charm, and where creativity takes a new form through gameplay, gathering, and design.

How It All Started

I first discovered Mahjong during a girls’ weekend years ago, and I was immediately captivated by the tactile beauty of the tiles, the strategy, and the connection it created across generations. Over time, I found myself dreaming about designing Mahjong tables, custom mats, and a dedicated space to host games. That dream came to life in 2025 when I officially opened Lily Pad Mahjong Parlor inside Cathy Lancaster Studio.

What We Offer

Starting June 14th, we're offering weekly classes, open play sessions, private events, and even a growing product line of Mahjong-inspired tables and accessories. It’s a new layer of what I love most—bringing people together through thoughtful, artful experiences.
